In addition to offering the best in visual arts, Art in the Square features a tremendous lineup of musicians and performing artists. Two stages feature continuous entertainment all weekend long. On the Main Stage, catch performances from some of the hottest acts with styles ranging from Jazz and Blues to Pop and Rock–-even Reggae, Motown, and Country. The Gazebo Stage features local talent and family entertainment. Past performers include The Southlake Swing Band, children’s story tellers, animal exhibitionslocal school bands and dance studios.




Youth Art in the Square provides aspiring high school artists with an invaluable opportunity to participate in and learn the mechanics of a world-class art festival. Candidates submit their art for juried consideration by completing an online application. Accepted artists will have their work exhibited at Art in the Square in a special sponsored Youth Art tent.  Awards including cash prizes will be presented for outstanding achievement.  Student artists will also have the opportunity to sell their work.

Students who participate in this charitable event may count their time volunteered toward high school community service hours needed for graduation.  Other students and adults may sign up to volunteer in the Youth Art tent.

Rules & Regulations

  • Youth Art in the Square is open to all student artists in NE Tarrant County high schools (grades 9-12), including public, private and home school.

  • All artwork must be original and produced by the student artist only.  No prefabricated forms, kits, imports, manufactured molds, wholesale or mass-produced items.

  • All artwork will be judged by a panel of professional artists, gallery owners and community members.

  • Art is to be displayed at Art in the Square from April 28-30, 2017.

  • All art is to be matted and ready for hanging. Please no glass and/or frames.

  • Students are responsible for transporting their art to the Southlake Town Center Gazebo on Thursday, April 27, between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

  • Student artists will be provided a tent and display materials. The student artists must be present during assigned times

  • Student artists can sign up to work a volunteer shift to host the tent during the weekend.

  • To ensure fairness for every student, artist rules stated in the application will be strictly enforced.

  • Photos of submitted artwork and/or participants may be used for publicity.

  • .Security will be provided; however, no one connected with Art in the Square is responsible for damage or loss to property.

  • Awards will be presented on Sunday, April 30, at 2:00 p.m. at the Gazebo Stage.  All students are asked to attend this presentation and then pick up their art from the Youth Art tent. Unclaimed works will not be collected and will remain at the Gazebo. .

The Zone

The Zone, sponsored by Children's Health Southlake, offers a variety of thrills for teens and ‘tweens! Enjoy bounce houses and inflatables, an amazing rock climbing wall, a new zip line, and a 4-way bungee trampoline for the young and young-at-heart!

All Zone activities require tickets, which can be purchased at booths throughout the festival.  These tickets can be used for food and drinks. A portion of all ticket sales for the Zone activities goes directly to our Art in the Square beneficiaries.


Kids Korner

Kids Korner is a special place for children of all ages to have fun and exhibit their talent.
We offer a popular mixture of applied art and hands-on activities:  

  • Face painting. Our talented artists use Wolfe professional face paint.
  • Colored hair spray. We use a variety of temporary colors that wash out with shampoo.
  • Sugar art. Take home an edible souvenir of your visit to Art in the Square!
  • Oil coloring. You become the artist of your own masterpiece!

Where should I park?

Do I need tickets?

The event is free. Tickets are required for all food, drinks and children’s activities. Ticket booths are strategically located and designated with large flags.

Are dogs allowed?

We strongly discourage people from bringing dogs to the festival due to safety concerns. Guide and service dogs are permitted.

I have art or other items to promote or sell.  Can I participate?

Artists interested in applying to our festival must submit applications in the fall to go before our jury. We do invite interested businesses to sponsor our event; sponsorship information is available here

There are 2 performance areas:  the Gazebo Stage features local groups and family entertainment and the Main Stage hosts our primary musical groups. 

What kind of entertainment is offered?

Absolutely! Art in the Square requires over 500 volunteers.
