Southlake’s Art in the Square Becoming More Popular
Officials with Art in the Square know their festival is growing in popularity.
The Art Fair SourceBook guide ranks Art in the Square as the No. 8 art festival — out of 600 — in the nation.
And more than 700 artists applied for space in this year’s show.
But perhaps the most visible proof came Thursday, when artinthesquare.com crashed under a “massive traffic slam.”
“We were getting 10,000 hits an hour this morning. It crashed it,” said Terri Messing, artist chair of Art in the Square. “Part of me thinks, ‘Oh that’s really bad.’ But another part of me says, ‘Wow, that’s a lot.'”
Service was restored later in the day — just in time for today’s opening.
